Manuel II Palaeologus. 1391-1425. AV Stavraton (26mm, 8.17 g, 6h). Class I. Heavy Coinage. Constantinople mint. Struck circa 1391-1394/5. Facing bust of Christ Pantokrator; barred IC XC flanking, three pellets to left, B to right, pellets and stars in margin / MANOVHΛ ΔЄCΠOTIC ΠAΛЄOΛOΓOC/ AVTOKPATOP ΘV XAPITI, crowned and nimbate bust of Manuel facing. DOC V 1306, 1309, and 1310 var. (different obv. sigla; same rev. die); PCPC 332 var. (unlisted variety and sigla); LPC 1; SB 2548. Short flan cracks, minor porosity. Good VF. Well struck for issue, rare variety.
