PLANTAGENET. Edward III. 1327-1377. AV Half Noble (25mm, 3.48 g, 4h). Fourth coinage, Treaty period, Series A (Transitional). Tower (London) mint . Struck 1361. King standing facing, holding sword and shield, in ship with bowsprit; ornaments 1-1-1-1, ropes 3/3, quatrefoils 4/3, lis 3, ship's planks divided / Ornate cross with lis at ends and small Є in center; crowned lions in quarters, lis in second quarter, pellets on corners of central panel. Lawrence dies m/7; Doubleday 187/173 (for obv./rev. dies); Schneider 65 corr. (same dies); North 1223; SCBC 1500. Miniscule flan crack. VF.

Commonly known as the 'cursing Half Noble' on account of the reverse legend which reads, 'O Lord rebuke me in Thine anger' due to the erroneous omission of the Latin word NE, which negates the rebuke.
