A Hong Kong Plague, Boer War Trio awarded to Private William. Wilkinson 1st Battalion Shropshire Light Infantry comprising Hong Kong Plague Medal, (Corporal E. Wilkinson, S.L.I.), note initial, Queen's South Africa Medal,1899‑1902 2nd type, ghost dates, four clasps, Cape Colony, Paarderberg, Driefontein, Johannesburg, (3399 Pte W. Wilkinson. Shrops: L.I.), King's south Africa Medal, two clasps, South Africa 1901 ‑ South Africa 1902, (3399 Pte J. Wilkenson. Shrops: L.I.), note spelling of surname and initial, very fine (3).



William Wilkinson a Farm Servant by trade joined the Shropshire Light Infantry on the 16th of February 1891. Promoted to Corporal 12th of April 1894 reduced to the ranks., "Conduct to the Prejudice of Good Order" 27th of May 1896. Mobilised 9th of October 1899 Discharged as a Private 15th of February 1903.


He served Home 16th February 1891 to 20th of December 1891, Hong Kong 21st December 1891 to 21st of December 1894, India 22nd December 1894 to the 31st of January 1897, Home 1st of February 1899 to the 6th of November 1899, South Africa 7th of November 1899 to the 26th of August 1902, Home 27th of August 1902 to the 15th of February 1903, 12 years with the colours.
