A Boer War, Prisoner of War, Great War Group of 4 to the 2nd Battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment, comprising Queen's South Africa Medal, 3rd type, one clasp Transvaal, (4643 Pte A. Ferris. Rl. Lanc. Regt), King's South Africa Medal, two clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902, (4643 Pte A. Ferris. Rl. Lanc: Regt:), both impressed naming, 1914‑15 Star, (2‑15110. Pte. A. Ferris. R. Lanc. R.), 1914‑1920 British War Medal, (2‑15110 Pte. A. Ferris. R. Lanc. R.), toned very fine (4).
4643 Private Ferris (shown as J, not A) in the Boer War casualty list states that he was made a Prisoner of War at Vryheid on the 11th of December 1900, being released on the 4th of January. His WW1 Medal Index Card states that he landed in France on the 27th of March 1915, served also as Private G1315 Royal Irish Rifles and that he was Discharged with a Silver war Badge, worthy of further research.
