A Boer War Great War group of 3 to Private Robert Vokes, Volunteer Company Royal Warwickshire Regiment and Essex Regiment, comprising Queen's South Africa Medal, 3rd type, 5 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902, (8314 Pte R. Vokes. Vol: Coy R. War: Regt), impressed naming, 1914‑1920 British War and Victory Medals, (55532 Pte. R. Yokes. Essex R.), note Yokes not Vokes, toned very fine (3).
It is quite evident that the transposition of "Y" for "V" stems from the Medal Index Card, the lettering making the "V" look like a "Y", Copy Medal Index Card sold with group, QSA Unusually named to a Volunteer Company. Medal Index Card confirms award of Great War Pair and further service in the Labour corps. Worthy of further research.
