A Rare 16th Lancers, 1914 Star Killed in Action Group of 3 awarded to Private Charles Alfred Lindsey, 16th (The Queen's) Lancers who was Killed in Action on the 21st of February 1915 comprising 1914 Star, (5045 Pte C.A. Lindsay. 16/Lrs.), 1914‑1920 British War and Victory Medals, (L‑5045 Pte. C.A. Lindsay. 16‑Lrs.), lightly toned very fine (3).


Private Charles Alfred Lindsay was Killed in Action on the 21st of February 1915, the 16th Lancers lost 5 officers and 12 other ranks when the Trench in the Ypres salient they were holding was blown up by a mine, of the 17 men killed that day only 5 have a known grave Charles is Commemorated on panel 5 of the Menin Gate Ypres, he was the son of Sarah Lindsay of Wharfe Lane, Tibshelf, Alfreton, Derbyshire and the late Charles Lindsay, he was 20 years old.


The 16th Lancers had only 213 fatal Casualties as a unit in the Great War.
