Victoria (1837-1901), gold Sovereign, 1896, Old head left, raised J.E.B. initials close to truncation for engraver J. Edgar Boehm, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, VICTORIA D:G: BRITT: REG: F:D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, broken lance to left on ground line, date in exergue, initials B.P to upper right for engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, edge milled, weight 7.98g (Marsh 148; S.3874). Appealing example with light surface marks on the obverse, strong residual mint lustre, very fine.

Calendar Year Mintage 3,334,065.
The Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God, Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith, Empress of India".
