Mint of Amphipolis, struck c.288 B.C.Head of Demetrios facing right, wearing a diadem and a bull's horn. Rev. BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΔHMHTPIOY, Poseidon, naked, standing left, his right foot resting on a rock, holding a trident in his left hand and resting his right on his knee, monograms on left and right (Newell 124 (CXVIII), pl. XIII, 1; SNG Alpha Bank 952; Dewing 1201 (this obverse die)).A wonderful and well-struck example in high relief, the obverse rendered with an ambitious gaze, superb iridescent cabinet tone, nearly extremely fine.
