ANCIENT COINS. GREEK COINS. Crete, Latos (c.200-67 B.C.), Silver Drachm, 3.75g, 12h.Bust of Artemis facing right, draped and wearing a stephane, with a quiver over her shoulder. Rev. Λ-A / T-I / Ω-N, Hermes standing facing, holding a caduceus in his draped left arm, and raising his right hand, all within a wreath (O. Picard 'Le monnayage de Latô', Peprahmena tou ST' Cretologikou Synedriou, vol. A", Chania 1990, pp. 107-113, pl. 12, 2; Svoronos -; BMC -; SNG Copenhagen -).Some porosity and light surface erosion, very fine.Extremely rare, very interesting and an important coin.
This extremely rare issue from Latos stylistically matches the bronze issues of the second and early first century B.C. (see the following lot), therefore a similar date seems likely.

Estimate: US$ 750
