Calabria, Tarentum (c.332-302 B.C.), Silver Didrachm, 7.84g, 4h.Naked horseman on prancing horse right, lancing downwards with his right arm and holding a round shield and two further javelins behind him, ΣA below horse. Rev. TAPAΣ, Taras seated astride a dolphin to left, holding a trident in his left hand and a kantharos on his extended right hand, Ω/Σ in field, a second smaller dolphin below (Vlasto 617 (these dies); Fischer-Bossert 884 (V347/R686); SNG ANS 1004; HN Italy 937).Two small old nicks and some light marks on obverse, with a beautiful old cabinet tone, about extremely fine.
