India 1957 P-R1 PMG Choice UNC 64 EPQ 1 Rupee (Persian Gulf Note)
Initial denomination of the Persian Gulf Rupee series. Traditionally, the countries in the Middle East used Indian Rupees. In order to implement stricter currency controls and to prevent trafficking of gold the Indian government introduced the Persian Gulf Rupees in the late 1950s, of which this is an example. They carry the same basic design as contemporary notes from India, but with different colors. PMG mentions "Staple holes at issue".
