"The first medal before the first
Since the beginning of the 20th century, thousands of medals have been minted in the Land of Israel and later in the State of Israel by commercial and public bodies as well as private individuals.
At the end of Operation Kadesh (1956), the Ministry of Defense issued a "Operation Sinai" medal. The medal was given as a token of appreciation by the IDF. To 34 French army officers who participated in the Sinai war. The signature of the then Minister of Defense, David Ben-Gurion, appears on the medal.
The alliance with France in Sinai war, like the issuance of the medal, were confidential.
Then, over a short period of time, a few dozen more units were informally minted by the manufacturer "Emnograph" which were sold to the collector community.
Face: Israeli and French flags, in front of them a Star of David with the IDF emblem inside it. Under the caption "Israel Defense Forces" and in French: "Ta Droite Est Mon Appui" (quote from a number of psalms "
Reverse: Date of commencement of the operation and under the caption in French "En Profonde Reconnaissance Pour son Precieue Bncours" [with deep appreciation for the blessed cooperation] and signed by the then Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, David Ben-Gurion.
