RUSSIAN MEDALS. Medals of Nicholas II. Medal. Gold. 75 mm, 316.45 gm. Atelier of A. Jakkar, engraved by M. Kerzin. On The 300th Anniversary of the Romanov Dynasty, 1913. Diakov 1548.1 (R5) [this medal], Sm-.Conjoined busts of Nicholas II and Michael Feodorovich facing ¾ r., anniversary dates below / Proclamation scene with oath-takers before Michael Feodorovich, the young son of the Patriarch Filaret and the nun Xenia (Marpha Ivanovna), signed below right. This medal was featured in an extensive and extraordinary offering of Russian medals in the Schweizerischer Bankverein Sale in 1981. It brought the highest price of any Russian medal or coin in the sale. Extremely rare and one of only a few known in gold; undoubtedly presented to a high dignitary during the Anniversary celebration. According to Diakov, technical problems with the Jakkar-produced dies (in all three metals), led To the reassignment of engraving work to M. Skudnov. Matte strike. Very choice uncirculated
