MYSIA, Miletopolis. Hadrian. AD 117-138. Æ (22.5mm, 6.98 g, 6h). Laureate head right / Miletos advancing left, looking right, raising arm and holding spear and shield; K-O in fields. RPC III 1645. Brown patina, light roughness, bare metal exposed on high points and around edge. VF.

The hero Miletos was the son of Apollo and the nymph Areia of Minos. Miletos, fleeing King Minos, left Crete with an army for Samos, then Caria, eventually landing in Mysia, where he founded the city in his name after slaying Asterius, son of Anax, king of Anactoria. The word ktistos as seen on this coin, means "founder" in Greek.
