An old 19th.c. ticket accompanying this lot identifies the Atkins reference (279/183) and describes the provenance of the coin thus: 'This is probably the unique pattern which was in the possession of Mr. Barker. It is mentioned by Pye 3:1 and in Bazaar articles N. 392'.
