Manchester, John Fielding (grocer & tea-dealer) Penny, 1793, Grocer's arms and supporters, rev. EIC
bale-mark, edge plain, 32mm/20.42gm. (DH 7). Centre of bale-mark lightly tooled, otherwise Good Very
Fine with dark brown patina, of the highest rarity - possibly only the second in existence. This is not the DH plate
coin, which was sold in the Hamer sale in 1930, but would appear to be the only other specimen seen in commerce since that date - in which time has appeared on the market only a couple or so of times.
Ex: SNC Mar. 1998 (1578); Ex. DNW 20 Feb. 2019, lot 1145.
