Toronto, Ontario. W.P. Howland signature at left. Dated June 1st, 1888. Red specimen overprints, serial numbers and a trio of punch cancellations. The colors are exceptionally bright, gleaming through the encapsulation surface with great appeal. The vignette at left is of a seated woman next to a flowing water jug. The scene at right shows a sailor at shore with an anchor, and a beached small boat in the surf with larger ships in the background at sea. The design on the reverse is simply stunning. Well executed lathe work is showcased in dark brown ink. PMG comments "Previously Mounted". PMG Pop 1/No Others Graded.
