People's Bank of China, 1st series renminbi, 1949, 5 yuan, Buffalo, consecutive run of 2 notes I II III 1295641-642,(Pick 814a), PMG 55 and 53 About Uncirculated respectively. A delightful consecutive pair with original deep colours and papers. This type is notorious for the poor quality it was printed on and seldomly encountered in the higher grades, especially as a running pair too! A superb lot for the serious collector (2).
