Austria 2.1.1925 P-90 PMG Gem UNC 66 EPQ 20/- Schillinge
The 1925 series of Austria is widely considered among the country's most beautiful classic banknotes, and as this example shows, it is not difficult to understand why. The 20 Schillinge is generally considered to be one of the scarcest denominations of the series, although none are particularly common in better grades. Typically seen in well circulated condition, this is the only uncirculated example in the PMG population report, and we are fortunate to be able to offer it in this sale. An aesthetically pleasing design, with most of the note printed in dark green, but with orange and other colors in the underprint, no doubt a deterrent against counterfeiting, as only the highest quality printers could produce such a banknote. This is the single finest example in the PMG population report and it is fresh to the market, coming to us from an old-time European collection. An extremely important opportunity for the Austrian specialist and an offering we do not expect to repeat anytime soon.
