Southern Bank of Ireland, proof for an unissued £10, Cork, 18- (1837), no serial numbers, uniface, black, denominations and serial number panels in blue, ship and anchor at left, castle and sailing ship at top, Britannia with harp at right, building at lower centre,, (PMI SO3), in PMG holder 53 About Uncirculated, previously mounted, Batho & Bingley SPECIMEN stamp, pencil annotation at reverse 'est 1837, failed 1837'. A previously unknown type for this very short lived bank. The known issued £1 is printed by J Kirkwood in Dublin. This is most likely a proposed design done by Batho & Bingley, London to bid for the note printing contract. One known example at the Bank of England archive. Lovely design.

Estimate: £2000 - £3000
