This design is the first release in a Royal Mint series dedicated to the history of British monarchy and the monarchs of England, Great Britain and the United Kingdom, and features Henry VII (1485 - 1509) of the Tudor dynasty. The reverse is based on a coin issued during his reign.

Design by Jody Clark./ Reverse depicts a matte imitation of an original hammered coin during King Henry VII's reign, with a beaded border with uneven rim. Surrounded by legend "HENRIC VII DI GRA REX AGL Z" in Medieval lettering, preceded by a French fleur-de-lis and a mint mark in the shape of a heart topped with a cross. Design by Alexander of Bruchsal. Edge milled.
