(t) CHINA. Ming Dynasty. 10 Cash, ND (ca. 1621-27). Emperor Xi Zong (Tian Qi). Graded 82 by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
Hartill-20.229; FD-2020; S-1223. Weight: 32.9 gms. Variety with Liang to the right. Obverse: "Tian Qi Tong Bao"; Reverse: "Shi Yi Liang". This wholesome looking example displays rich attractive brassy patina with minor earthen deposits amongst the devices adding to its originality. Aside from a few marks and abrasions the high points are relatively smooth and a bit lighter in color. The characters are nicely formed, though the open fields appear to have been tastefully smoothed long ago and are now pleasantly toned. The attractive large format issue is pleasing to the eye and is sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
