CHINA. Qing Dynasty. 50 Cash, ND (ca. November 1853-March 1854). Board of Works Mint, Old branch. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). VERY FINE.
Hartill-22.759; FD-2444. Weight: 56.58 gms. Obverse: "Xian Feng Zhong Bao"; Reverse: "Dang Wu Shi". This decently preserved example displays light brassy coloration with richer patina amongst the devices. Much of the naturally rough surface texture is intact, though the exposed areas along with the high-points do show signs of handling and evidence of a past cleaning. Close inspection reveals numerous thin light scratches on the rims purely mentioned for accuracy, but is hardly a distraction. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of the type that would make a nice addition for the beginner to intermediate collector.

From the Kenneth Bressett Collection.

Estimate: $500 - $700
