CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Fujian. 50 Cash, ND (ca. 1853-55). Fuzhou Mint. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). CHOICE VERY FINE.
Hartill-22.782; FD-2523. Weight: 78.71 gms. Variety with one dot Tong. Obverse: "Xian Feng Tong Bao"; Reverse: "Wu Shi". This decently preserved example boasts bold well-formed characters displaying rich brown patina with areas red pigment and verdigris throughout. Most of the naturally rough surface texture is intact, but does show signs of handling in the exposed areas. Close inspection of the reverse rim reveals a single chopmark, "宝" (Bao), at 6 o'clock filled with red pigment. This handsome survivor offers a pleasing appearance and much originality that is sure to see spirited bidding.

Estimate: $900 - $1200
