(t) CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Fujian. 50 Cash, ND (ca. 1853-55). Fuzhou Mint. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). Graded 82 by Zhong Qian Ping Ji Grading Company.
Hartill-22.795; FD-2525. Weight: 98.1 gms. Variety with characters for weight on the rim. Obverse: "Xian Feng Zhong Bao"; Reverse: "Wu Shi"; Rim: "Er Liang Wu Qian". This wholly original looking survivor displays lovely rich brown patina with minor earthen deposits and verdigris amongst the devices. The characters are bold and well-formed with good definition. Most of the naturally rough surface texture remains intact, though the exposed areas do show signs of handling. The rim exhibits much evidence of the finishing process with a few chopmarks and minor edge bumps adding to the originality and utilitarian nature of this large format issue. An attractive example from this ever-popular Emperor that is sure to see spirited bidding from many collectors.

Estimate: $7000 - $10000
