CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Fujian. 50 Cash, ND (ca. 1853-55). Fuzhou Mint. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). CHOICE VERY FINE.
Hartill-22.799; FD-2523. Weight: 90.01 gms. Obverse: "Xian Feng Tong Bao"; Reverse: "Wu Shi". This attractive and nicely preserved example boasts bold well-formed characters with a pleasing brown patina. Most of the naturally rough surface texture is still intact with minor earthen deposits amongst the devices. The rims exhibits much evidence of the finishing process on both sides adding to its originality. A handsome example of the type that is sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
