CHINA. Qing Dynasty. Fujian. 100 Cash, ND (ca. 1853-55). Fuzhou Mint. Emperor Wen Zong (Xian Feng). CHOICE VERY FINE.
Hartill-22.800; FD-2528. Weight: 187.42 gms. Obverse: "Xian Feng Tong Bao"; Reverse: "Yi Bai". This wholly original looking survivor boasts bold well-formed characters with much of the naturally rough surface texture in the fields and relatively smooth high-points. The exposed areas do show signs of handling with minor marks or abrasions, but nothing overly distracting. Close inspection of the rims and edge reveals numerous small chopmarks, as commonly encountered on these issues, adding to it's originality and utilitarian nature. Pleasing to the eye and quite attractive, these large size issues are impressive in hand and very popular and is sure to see spirited bidding from collectors.

From the Kenneth Bressett Collection.

Estimate: $3000 - $5000
