CHINA. Yunnan Sanchuo Jieding. Provincial Three Stamp Remittance Ingots. Silver 5 Tael Bank Ingot, ND. VERY FINE.
BMC-LXVI Group I. Weight: 180.60 gms. "Chen Bao Sheng Hao Hui Hao Wen Yin" (Chenbaosheng Bank, remittance bank fine silver), "Guan Gong Gu She Qing __ Kan" (Inspected by official public assayer Sheqing __ Bank); "Guan Gong Gu Chen Yuan Chang Kan" (Inspected by official public assayer Chenyuanchang Bank). This moderately handled survivor displays rich mottled patina with minor earthen deposits amongst the devices. The outer stamps are deeply impressed, while the central stamp is somewhat weak which is typical for this series. The two assay stamps, though nicely centered are slightly muddled making a couple of the characters difficult to identify. An unusual aspect of this issue is the large oblique die crack which would indicate prolonged usage. This charming example shows moderate signs of handling lending to the utilitarian nature of these issue adding a bit character.
Estimate: $700 - $1000
