CHINA. Kiangsu. Mint Error -- Double Dragon Side Mule -- 10 Cash, ND (ca. 1906). Kuang-hsu (Guangxu). NGC VF-35.
CL-KS.67; Woodward-865 (12-13; RR); Duan-1718; KM-Y-10n (for basic type). A supremely interesting and majestic RARITY, this specimen--featuring two dragon side dies paired together in an obvious muling--likely emanates from some mint sport, as the degree of the error could hardly have been through shear accident. Nevertheless, its presence in the market is quite paltry, and its possible spurious nature only augments its allure that much more. Just the third example of the type that we have offered, the more recent of which was a PCGS MS-62 Brown that realized a total of $11,400 in our May 2022 Hong Kong auction (Lot # 51054).
Estimate: $3000 - $5000
