JAPAN. Silver Isshu and Counting Board (80 Pieces), ND (ca. 1853-69). Grades VERY FINE to UNCIRCULATED.
KM-C-12 & 12a; JNDA-09-53 & 09-55. Weight: 150.4 gms. An interesting gathering consisting primarily of the Kaei Isshu (78) with at least three different varieties, but does also include two Kawatsune Isshu (Meiji era) pieces. All display varying degrees of patina, most appear to have rich old cabinet patina on one side and lighter coloration on the other. Clearly these pieces sat for a prolonged period of time in the counting board, also contained in this lot, as indicated by the toning pattern. Most are high grade, Almost Uncirculated to Uncirculated, but a few are Extremely Fine of lower. Most are very attractive with luster and lovely rich patina. Close inspection is advised and will reward the diligent bidder. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. Approximate retail value in excess of $2,000. A great group of like items that would make a nice addition for the academic collector interested in Japanese economic history.

Estimate: $900 - $1200
