CHINA. Kiangnan. Contemporary Counterfeit 1 Mace 4.4 Candareens (20 Cents), CD (1898). VERY FINE.
Weight: 5.55 gms. This crudely made little minor coin very clearly states that is was made in Kiangnan province, though the calligraphy is a bit unorthodox in nature. The English inscription is blundered not anywhere close to an original and the dragon somewhat resembles those of Hupeh 10 Cash issues (KM-Y-120a.10). This piece obviously saw circulation, though it is a bit on the light side for this denomination. A neat and interesting piece that is sure to add depth to the next collection it enters.
