Imperial Order of Solomon
Grand Cross Breast Star of the Order in gilt Silver: two concentric, stylized stars of palms and leaves, the finials, alternated with 4 square-cut rubies and four square-cut emeralds and six brilliants, horizontal, oval centre, bearing a silver, doubled medallion with biblical scenes, surrounded by Amharic inscriptions, sided by applied, palm branches, the reverse, with vertical, round pin and the maker`s escutcheon of Worth, Nassau, The Bahamas, original sash ribbon of the Order. An imposing, lavishly made star of the most precious, modern manufacture, excellent condition. Dim.: 84,0 x 84,0 mm.
Note: this Order is the highest dynastic honour of the Ethiopian Imperial Family. Founded in 1922, by the empress mother Zeuditu and reformed by Emperor Haile Selassie I, is reserved to the highest nobility and royals, the Collar, is reserved to the ruling couple only. I RR!
