Louis II de Mâle (1346-84) gold Chaise d'or au lion 1369-84, Fr-163, Delm-466, MS63 NGC. + LVDOVICVS : DЄI x | x GRΛ x | COM' x Ƶ : DnS : FLΛnD', count seated facing on Gothic throne, a sword in his right hand and a shield with a lion supported by his left; all within a tressure of arches with trefoils in the spandrels / + XPC : VIИCIT : XPC : RЄGИΛT : XPC : IMPЄRΛT, cross fleurée in quadrilobe with trefoils on cusps and rosettes in spandrels. Despite touches of striking weakness, this piece is quite attractive, exhibiting sharp details and wonderful old collection tone. This type imitating the French Chaise d'or was the last gold issue of Louis II and was also known as a Nouvel Écu d'or.
