Hainaut. Philippe le Bon (1433-67) gold Lion d'or ND, Fr-269, Delm-303, AU58 PCGS. PhS : DЄI : GRA : DVX : BVRG : COMЄS : hAHOIЄ, lion seated left beneath a Gothic canopy, a briquette to either side / + SIT : nOMЄИ : DOMIИI : BЄИЄDICTVM : ΛMЄИ : (briquet), Burgundian arms with inescutcheon of Flanders superimposed on a cross fleurée. A bright and boldly struck example with a few minor flan flaws. The module is almost entirely on-flan and the surfaces retain ample luster. Hainaut was added to the Burgundian Netherlands by a marriage alliance in 1433.
