Pedro II gold 4000 Reis 1833/2-R, KM386.1, Russo-611, AU55 NGC. Mintage: 257. A rarely offered denomination for Pedro II and the present example has to be among the finest extant of the date with sharp detailing in the centers that boldly define all but a portion of the crossed globe on the reverse, very little, if any, highpoint wear and surfaces that remain nearly entirely lustrous and sparkle beneath a light. Original blushes of orange tone aid the overall appeal and are most evident on the reverse. Certainly a premium coin for the grade with a "look" equivalent to many in the MS61-MS62 grade range. Whether pursued for date or type, this coin is a real winner.
Estimate: 15000-20000 USD
