Pedro II gold 10000 Reis 1842, KM457, Russo-623, MS63 NGC. Fabulous eye appeal. Likely a very early strike of 1842 with full mint brilliance, impeccable bust details. Known as the "Admiral" series due to the naval uniform worn by young Pedro, this is quite an elusive series with only 1847 having a mintage higher than 5000. The early and rare date of 1842 has a reported mintage of 1146 pieces. We have seen a few of the type over the years though certainly no specimen even close in quality and condition as this one.
