Republic gold 20000 Reis 1892, KM497, Russo-712, MS62 NGC. An absolutely lovely coin with a delicate veil of orange-gold tone atop dazzling, reflective obverse fields. While handling in the open surfaces does confirm accurate grading, the look remains rather high-end with no marks being bothersome to the eye. A great rarity in the 20,000 Reis series and despite its seemingly large (comparative to many other dates) mintage of 7,738, widely regarded as one of the most elusive dates. Missing from all major sales of the last generation except Norweb.
