Ferdinand VI gold 8 Escudos 1758/7 So-J, KM3, Fr-5, Calico-654, MS62 NGC. A rarer date and certainly close to, if not the finest example extant with NGC having certified no other examples as Mint State and a search of auction archives yielding no examples that near comparison. An exciting coin in many respects with an impeccable strike, no planchet imperfections and extremely glossy fields that communicate a certain "freshness" that is truly uncommon on non-hoard coins of this era. From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $3850 in VF, $6300 in EF.
