Republic gold Proof 1916 2 Pesos, KM17, Fr-6. PR62 Cameo NGC. Types as previous. A much rarer date for this elusive type, and in nearly choice condition as well. Missing in the Eliasberg, Norweb and Pittman collections. Note that although the slab mentions an ex-Norweb pedigree, this important rarity was in fact missing from that auction. This specimen was however acquired from descendants of the Norweb family at a different time. Only three pieces have been graded, the highest of which sold in our January 2012 auction for $51,750. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $135 in VF, $160 in EF, $200 in UNC, $375 in BU.
