Anglo-Gallic - Aquitaine. Edward III of England (1327-77) gold Léopard d'or ND, 3rd Issue, from July 1357, Fr-4, Elias-39, AU58 NGC. + ЄDWARDVS : DЄI : GRA : AnGLIЄ : FRAnCIЄ : RЄX, crowned leopard passant to left within tressure of 10 arches, quatrefoils at points and in spandrels / + XP'C : VInCIT : XP'C : RЄGnAT : XP'C : IMPЄRAT, cross fleurée, lions in angles, within beaded border and quadrilobe, voided quatrefoils in spandrels. Evenly, if somewhat weakly, struck with light circulation wear and considerable remaining mint luster. The thin planchet is quite straight with slight unevenness evident in the fields due to ghosting. This example was part of the last gold issue of Edward III in France prior to the Treaty of Brétigny in 1360.
