Philippe VI (1328-50) gold Écu d'or à la chaise ND, 1st Emission, from 1 January 1337, Fr-270, Duplessy-249, MS61 NGC. + PhILIPPVS : DЄI x | x GRA x | x FRAnCORVM : RЄX, King seated on Gothic throne, a sword in his right hand and his left supporting a shield / + o XP'C : VInCIT : XP'C : RЄGИAT : XP'C : IMPЄRAT, cross fleurée with voided quatrefoil in center and at the ends of the limbs, leaves in angles; all within a quadrilobe with trefoils in spandrels. Slightly weak and double-struck in part of the legends, the remainder of the strike is sharp with mint bloom over choice surfaces.
