Worms. Free Imperial City Goldgulden 1619, KM49, Fr-3536, AU58 NGC, toned and very attractive. The obverse features a dragon facing left supporting the arms of Worms while the reverse displays the crowned double-headed Imperial Eagle with the abbreviated Latin legend, here spelled out: SUB UMBRA ALARUM TUARUM PROTOGE NOS (Protect us under the shadow of your wings). The strike is well-executed on a flan of good metal without cracks or flaws. An early and very scarce city-issue goldgulden worthy of inclusion in an advanced cabinet. Krause catalog price(s) for this item: $700 in VF, $1500 in EF.

Estimate: 2000-2500 USD
