Ancients
IONIA. Erythrae (?). Ca. 520-500 BC. EL 12th stater (9mm, 1.33 gm). Flower, seen from above, with central pellet and twelve petals / "Mill sail" incuse square. Cf. SNG Kayhan 694–6 (larger denominations);.cf. SNG von Aulock 1771–2 (same). Rare and quite exceptional for this rather mysterious type, quite likely the finest known. Seems to be the only recorded specimen with a "mill sail" incuse. Extremely Fine.
