Choice Extremely Fine.In Greek mythology, Haemus was a haughty king of Thrace who compared himself and his wife, Queen Rhodope, to Zeus and Hera. In response the gods changed them into mountains, appropriately named Haemus and Rhodope Mons on the Balkan peninsula, which the Greeks referred to as the "Peninsula of Haemus." Haemus is shown on this rare Moesian issue reclining in an attitude suggesting languid arrogance.
