C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS PON M TR POT, laureate head of Gaius left / S P Q R P P OB CIVES SERVATOS in four lines within oak wreath (Corona Civica). RIC 37. CBN 50. Cohen 24. BMCRE 38. An amazing sestertius, with an outstanding portrait and lovely chocolate brown and green surfaces. Likely expertly conserved (original patina stripped and surfaces repatinated and / or retoned), but no signs of tooling or enhancement of detail. Superb Extremely Fine.
