Great Britain
Richard II (1377-99) gold Noble ND, S-1663, North-1307 (rare), sideways lion passant on rudder, Calais mint with flag at stern, distinctive "R" at center of reverse, Schneider-180 (pellet above  and another just to right of second quadrant of the king's shield on obverse), MS63 NGC, lustrous and choice with lovely reddish gold toning, sharply detailed except for the king's tiny face and portions of the flag and a few other small spots, the ship itself boldly sailing upon rough seas, stern and forecastle sharply detailed, as is the king's shield, the reverse generally sharp and consistently struck, legends slightly off flan but still bold and singly struck, no damage or flaws on either side -- all in all, one of the best Richard II Nobles to appear recently on the market. Rare type in a superior state of preservation. (Mis-attributed on the NGC grading insert as S-1657, which would be London mint.)

Estimate: 5000-7000 USD
