Great Britain
Charles I (1625-49) gold Unite ND, of 20 Shillings, S-2685 (mule), North-2146, Tower mint under the King, 1st Bust with curved ruff, reverse garnished shield without king's initials beside it, Lis mm (struck 1625 only), AU55 NGC, choice surfaces with residual luster, broad round flan, excellent portrait and crowned shield on reverse, legends not full but clearly readable, light yellow gold in color -- an appealing example of this rarer, early bust. (A mule, variously catalogued by North and Schneider, mis-attributed on the NGC grading label as S-2689A, which would be 2nd Bust with "CR" garnish and a different initial mark. The sequence of portraits and shields is being revised constantly in the SCBC, and precision of attribution is impossible due to the many muled dies and minor engraving alterations of the king's bust.)

Estimate: 3000-3500 USD
