Great Britain
Charles II gold Guinea 1666, S-3342, 3rd Bust, MS61 NGC, fully lustrous with splendid eye-appeal, perfect centering, marvelous gold color, and historical association -- the black plague of 1665-66 and the great fire of London of 1666, which stopped the plague by killing most of the rats. Considering those times, and the dire need to spend money rather than keep it as mementoes, all early dates of the Guinea issues from this reign are rare in XF, and nearly impossible to find in this astounding condition. Ex Millennia and Jacob Y. Terner Collections.
