Great Britain
George II gold Guinea 1727, S-3670, 1st Young laureate Head, first variety of this date with "small lettering," UNC Details "Surface Hairlines" NGC, and yet this is still an exceptionally fine example of this extremely rare date and variety, lustrous with sharply struck details (the shield especially), perfectly centered on each side with high rims, tiny abrasions in the soft gold mostly on the obverse, some hairlines as the TPG so states, with deep reddish gold toning. The "small lettering" notation in the SCBC refers to all letters in the legends of both sides as well as smaller digits in the date. Could be better but this coin leaves most 1727 Guineas in the dust -- it's like a dazzling diamond with a memorable flaw. Truly rare!

Estimate: 8000-12000 USD
