Great Britain
James I (1603-25) Sixpence 1603, S-2647, North-2074 (scarce), 1st Coinage of 1603-04, 1st Bust, Thistle mm, AU58 NGC, a thoroughly delightful coin with an exceptionally sensitive, lifelike portrait, sharply detailed by the strike, both the king's face and his armored clothing far better defined than on any other piece this cataloguer has encountered, just the faintest rub on the high points, the texture of the silver outstanding, the surfaces nearly perfect, and the patina a sensational, rich golden gray. If ever there was an "ideal look" to a James I sixpence, this is it.
